About Us...
Like many social, dating and vibrant communities, HWerks is no different except for one thing. The common bond our community shares is herpes (HSV) and/or the Human Papillomavirus (HPV).
HWerks is not only a “Dating” site for people with herpes, we are an entire social network! We list events across the country, have very active forums and our video chat can’t be beat!
Founded in 2007, HWerks has come a long way and went through many upgrades over the years. It is virtually unrecognizable, today. Originally created as a local herpes website for the Chicago area, we quickly outgrew the area as did the demand and went nationwide. We now have members from all over including 4 different countries!
In 2012, with 1000’s of members and a thriving community, we did the unthinkable. To get rid of all the “old” profiles, we deleted our entire site and database to start from scratch. Of course, we invited back all of the previous members to ensure they were still active and wanted to be part of the community. We then locked the site to member’s only. Well, that proved to be a great success and our members are happier than ever!
In 2018, we are going to do it again.
We set out to build not just a dating site, but one that also encourages interaction, support and fun! It is not uncommon for people, who found relationships or even got married, to still participate on the site. They come back to visit with friends or to participate in other areas of the site.
While HWerks has a ton of features, many people use it for different reasons. Those reasons can be broken down into 4 basic categories:
Herpes Dating (HPV, Too)
Having herpes and/or HPV can put a damper on your dating life. Like many others, you may not want to give “The Talk” and want to just find others in the same situation. There are 1000’s of great people inside of HWerks! You will soon find out that you are not the only one with this! If you are looking to date then HWerks is the place!
Herpes Support
There are not a lot of things worse than a doctor giving you a diagnosis of “You have herpes.” The range of emotions can be huge! Usually, the two big ones are anger and the feeling that you will never date again. You may even feel isolated. There are a lot of people feeling the same thing. There are also a lot of people who have been through it and are will answer questions. Before you know it, you’ll see that it does get better!
Information
The first thing most people do, after learning about their diagnosis, is (Besides panicking!) turning on their computer and scouring the web for more information. Unfortunately, many will stumble across horrible pictures of herpes and HPV. Don’t worry as most of those pictures are extreme cases! Once inside of HWerks, your mind will probably be put at ease. Not only is there great information but the chat rooms and forums are an excellent resource to answer your questions!
Most Importantly - We Have Fun
Not everybody wants to talk about herpes all day. They have moved on from support and have moved on to participate in the other areas that we have to offer. The chat and forums can make you laugh or pull you into an intelligent conversation. Groups provide areas for people with similar interests. The site grows with you!
We have all types of people here. Everything, from the “OMG! I just got Herpes!!!” to the ones that are just happy people. Most people join to find someone to date but HWerks is not exclusive to singles. Married and people in a relationship join to participate, pass the time or for the friendships made.
Some will read this and think, “Hey! I just want a regular herpes dating site!” To this, we can say that many people, who tried the regular dating sites without success, were glad they joined HWerks. Many marriages and relationships came about here because they participated in the other areas we offer. Sure, you can search profiles like any other dating site but you will have other options as well.
Your privacy is important to us!
One of the biggest concerns people have is “Who will be able to see my profile?” Rest assured because we are a 100% membership only site so only members can see what goes on! Because of this, members feel a lot more comfortable participating and have peace of mind knowing that we do not offer “Free” or “Trial” memberships. Members have to be upgraded to access the inside. So, you don’t have to worry about someone popping in that should not be here. No, we don’t require test results but if they have a membership, the odds are that they belong here.
We Never Share Information
HWerks is not associated with any other website nor do we ever share/sell information. That is just not who we are. Ok, if presented with a court order, we would be obligated because we probably wouldn’t like jail. Don’t worry, in all of the years we have been in business, this has never happened.
What to expect?
Once you have joined HWerks, you will have full access. You can jump right in and search for people in your area or take your time and look around. There is a lot going on! You will be among some of the greatest people you could imagine that just happen to also have HSV and/or HPV. They are doctors, lawyers, teachers, students…just about any profession. Go ahead and post a picture. Only upgraded members can access the inside.
We realize that HWerks is just a website and would be nothing without its awesome members! It is because of this that we constantly upgrade to ensure a great member experience which fosters interaction and friendships.
